How old is a Webelos I Scout?

What does Webelos Mean?

Webelos stands for "WE BE LOyal Scouts."

What do Webelos I Scouts do?

Webelos I marks your sons first steps on his path to Boy Scouts. As a Webelos I your cubs activities and regiment will begin to reflect those of Boy Scouting. There will be a greater focus on camping and safety and survival in the outdoors.

Just as Boy Scouts are divided into patrols your Webelos I scouts will separate into patrols. They will meet once a month as a patrol, and once a month as a Den Level, and once a month as a Pack. They will begin to learn the dynamics of group leadership and how the individual can have an impact on a larger organization.

You and your son will get to know the Boy Scout Troops in our area through the Den Cheif program. Their patrol will seek out the participation of a Boy Scout from a local troop to act as a leadership aide in their patrol activities. They will begin to participate in council wide activities with boy scout troops such as the "Ready Man" event where Cubs and Boy Scouts experience emergency response through a faux emergency event.
